The 2024 Voter Challenge was a voter turnout contest in eight communities near me: Berkley, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Lathrup Village, Oak Park, Pleasant Ridge, Royal Oak and Southfield. Totals are based on Oakland County, Michigan records. The prizes will be checks from me to a charity designated by the cities.
I thought that voter turnout would be much higher due to the passage of Proposal 2 in November 2022. It makes voting much easier by establishing early voting and no excuse absentee ballots. But I was wrong. Only Pleasant Ridge had a high turnout in 2024 versus 2020 (83.19% versus 80.90%), and many cities had a lower turnout. Thus, I conclude that difficulties in voting are not why people don’t vote.
I will contact each city soon and announce the charities in a subsequent post.

P.S. I am happy to help other communities set up their own contests but I cannot run the contests or provide the funds.
