23 December 2019: Don't dance with the devil
My comment below appeared in the New York Times comment section for this article: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/23/us/politics/john-durham-fbi-russia.html#commentsContainer&permid=104287860:104287860
The overriding lesson is to stay away from evil. Again and again, as Mr. Holder commented, reputations are lost when dealing with President Trump. Donald Trump is the epitome of evil: continuous dishonesty; promoting bigotry, hatred and violence; using government and charity to enrich himself, his family and friends; damaging respect for the rule of law; weakening democratic ideals, institutions and countries; supporting dictators and other evil people. Why would anyone want to engage with him? Do they think they can "dance with the devil" and emerge unscathed?
I also came across this very honest piece about an evangelical who no longer supports Trump, see https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/political-confessional-the-evangelical-who-doesnt-support-trump/.
