26 October 2022: Now is the time to vote
Now is the time to vote and to urge others to vote. In a democracy, voting is our civic responsibility - we are the Board of Directors and are responsible for overseeing the functioning of government at various levels. If we do not vote, shame on us for not doing our job.
Voting is also good for us as individuals and for society in other ways, see http://natpernick.blogspot.com/2022/09/12-september-2022-voting-to-achieve.html .
It is also important to be politically active. If we want society to get better or even to prevent it from getting worse, we must do more than vote. Pick a candidate, issue, political organization or nonpartisan organization to help. It could be writing a check, circulating petitions, passing out literature or putting up signs. You could work for the library, public schools or a government commission or attend public governmental meetings. This is an ongoing responsibility - it doesn't end with this election.
We should all be doing more than we did last year if we want things to get better.
The Secretary of State has said that 1.8 million absentee ballots have been requested by Michigan voters. So far only 771,967 absentee ballots have been turned in. So make sure you turn yours in.
If you haven’t voted yet, please make a plan for voting, see https://www.Michigan.gov/Vote for more information.
