29 June 2019: Putting our values into action
I try to live my values every day. I can only vote in an election once a year, but when I spend money, I believe that is also a vote, of sorts, in support of the recipient of those dollars.
Here is a letter I just sent to the Governor of Florida:
Dear Governor DeSantis,
Florida is a great state. Every winter I typically spend at least 30 days as a "snow bird", leaving the cold of Michigan to enjoy walking along the shore in the Miami Beach area, shopping at its stores and eating at its restaurants. The people are very friendly, and at this point, I consider it my second home.
However, I have decided to cut back on this due to your actions in taking away the rights of Floridians and disregarding the will of your residents regarding the ex-felon law, see https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/florida-governor-signs-bill-making-it-harder-for-felons-to-regain-voting-rights/2019/06/28/5e446828-9a0b-11e9-916d-9c61607d8190_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.e2787cb2ba4b.
Shame on you! America stands for something. I am not sure what you stand for, but it is nothing to be proud of. I will miss my visits, but true Americans have to stand up for our values.
I will pray for you and others who have been seduced by evil.
