29 November 2020: Is the US Supreme Court undermining religion?
The most important question after the Supreme Court struck down New York's COVID-19 pandemic limits:
How likely are you to support religious groups engaging in activities that public health officials tell us are unsafe?
For many of us, the answer is less likely than before. We are less likely to join in their activities, less likely to patronize their institutions and less likely to give them financial support.
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, I heard people say that for their own safety they would avoid shopping at stores in religious communities that tended to refuse the measles vaccine.
Many religious communities appear to need support from "outsiders" to thrive. Now, thanks to the US Supreme Court, that support is likely to diminish.
What do you think?
