29 October 2018: Being a Social Media Monitor
What can we do in response to the bombings, shootings and other acts of violence that have almost become routine in American life?
I have decided to use some of my “social media” time to monitor potential sociopaths and report anything suspicious to law enforcement. Many of the “lone wolves” who commit acts of violence do not expect to live through the experience, and post their motives to social media. The Pittsburgh shooter posted on the Gab website “I can't sit by and watch my people get slaughtered. Screw your optics. I'm going in.” The Florida bomber wrote "Hug your loved son, niece, wife, family real close everytime you walk out of your home," sharing images of an aerial view of Joe Biden's home with a target on it and pictures of his family. I don’t think posting a target on a person’s photo or their property is free speech – I consider it a threat that should be reported to law enforcement.
What are you doing in response to these acts of violence?
