30 September 2020: Lathrup Village, Pleasant Ridge and Royal Oak announce their charities to receive awards from the 2020 Voter Challenge
We previously announced the second voter challenge between Berkley, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Lathrup Village, Oak Park, Pleasant Ridge, Royal Oak and Southfield.
The prizes are $1000, $500 and $250 for the cities in my "Next Door" group that have the highest voter turnout in the November 2020 election, based on results as reported by Oakland County Elections. In addition, any city that has at least 75% turnout will get $250 and any city with an 80% turnout will get $500, but cities can only get one award.
I have contacted City officials in these 8 cities to choose, in advance, the charity to receive the prize if their city wins.
Here are the newest charities selected:
Lathrup Village: The Children's Garden
Pleasant Ridge: Ferndale Youth Assistance and Ferncare
Royal Oak: Royal Oak Animal Shelter
Note: We are still waiting for Ferndale to announce its charity.
Previously announced charities are:
Berkley: The Friends of Berkley Parks & Recreation and the Friends of the Berkley Public Library.
Huntington Woods: City's antiracism plan
Oak Park: Oak Park Youth Assistance
Southfield: The Friends of Southfield Public Art
