9 October 2020: This week's letter to President Trump urging him to resign

Dear President Trump,

It really is time for you to resign. Poll after poll shows you losing by 10% in the national election. You are going to lose badly. Blame it on COVID-19, the media, life's unfairness - it doesn't matter. What does matter is that you cut your losses and start the next adventure of your life. The clock is ticking.

Resign now and start your media network and your memoirs. Get Mike Pence to pardon you and your family. Perhaps you can hire some smart attorneys (NOT Rudy Guliani) to negotiate with the State of New York - I suggest full disclosure in exchange for immunity. The advantages you have are that (a) nobody really wants to indict a former President, (b) the State of New York needs the information about your business to go after other people and institutions, and (c) there is a real question of whether you are competent to stand trial because of your declining mental and physical health.

It's time to move on. Resign now.
