Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib should mediate talks with the Palestinian government in Gaza
11 March 2024
This post is from a recent Letter to the Editor of the Detroit Free Press (submitted, not yet published).
I suggest that Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib go to Gaza to meet with the Palestinian government there (Hamas). Congresswoman Tlaib is one of the most prominent Palestinian-Americans in the United States and has repeatedly pressed Israel and the United States to end the October 7 war. Since this war was started by the Palestinian government, elected by the Palestinians of Gaza in 2006 and maintained by them in power, it makes sense that she should use her political clout to influence this Palestinian government to release their Israeli hostages and cease their rocket attacks on Israel, which would likely produce a cease-fire.
