Let me be absolutely clear: I do not condone or support violence in any form. However, I’m also aware that many people don’t engage with this blog or consider perspectives like mine.
If deportations continue to escalate, particularly if they begin to affect U.S. citizens, or if essential programs like Medicaid, Medicare, or Social Security face major cuts or disruptions, the consequences could be serious.
We can expect widespread protests. But beyond peaceful demonstrations, there's a troubling possibility that some individuals may respond with extreme or violent actions directed at figures like Donald J. Trump, Elon Musk, Republican lawmakers or businesses associated with them. Those who live in Trump-branded properties, work for these individuals or are seen as prominent supporters could also face increased risk. This is not a threat, but a sober warning based on observation, not endorsement.
The truth is, even with the efforts of the Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies, it's impossible to fully protect all potential targets if unrest reaches a national scale. The sheer number of properties and personnel tied to Trump and Musk would make it especially challenging.
I sincerely hope none of this comes to pass. Violence is never the answer, and once it begins, it becomes difficult to contain. Still, if Trump, Musk, and their allies continue on their current path, they should not be surprised if resistance intensifies and some of it could become dangerous. We must acknowledge and prepare for this possibility, even as we strive for nonviolent, constructive outcomes.
Previously, I urged people to avoid aligning with harmful figures for moral, economic and professional reasons. To that list, I now add a pressing concern: personal safety.
