Donald J. Trump is impotent. Despite all his claims of greatness, he doesn’t have the power to correct a wrongful deportation. This failure speaks volumes.
What an embarrassment!
How can anyone support such weak leadership?
The world is complex. The United States needs thoughtful, capable leadership to navigate nuance and act in the nation’s best interest. Donald Trump clearly does not meet that standard.
Unfortunately, the Republican House and Senate are his lapdogs, continuously kissing his butt, seeking his approval and pretty much doing whatever he wants. His cabinet defines the term “suckup”. Much of the business community and a good chunk of the electorate act like lemmings, going down the cliff of destruction.
Those of us who value sanity, decency and democratic norms must act, even if political involvement is new or intimidating:
Support Democratic candidates—federally, statewide and locally for the next decade. That means voting, volunteering, donating and conversing with those around us.
Shop small and local. While we may not know every owner’s views, we can avoid empowering billionaire-run companies that wield outsized and often damaging influence over our political system.
Disengage from Trump- and Musk-affiliated entities—whether it’s employment, investments, purchases, media appearances or social media platforms. Avoid products, properties and platforms bearing their names. Tune them out.
Take small, consistent actions. Even an hour a week dedicated to advocacy, awareness or political engagement can make a difference.
Let’s also remember those prominent individuals who backed Trump in 2024 or stayed silent instead of supporting Harris. We should ignore them now - their judgment cannot be trusted.
Trump has shown he lacks the power or will to improve our lives. But that doesn’t have to be our story. If you care about the future, let’s get to work.
