Donald Trump has a surefire way to make America great again, at least for his followers. When confronted with a problem, he first announces that he is working on it. Later, he announces that the problem has been solved and repeats this over and over again. That’s it! We know that most of his followers believe his fictional stories and whatever else he says and cannot be convinced otherwise. In their minds, Trump is the truth, so everyone who disagrees with him must be lying.
As Trump himself said in 2016:
"I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK?" Trump remarked at a campaign stop at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. "It's, like, incredible." NPR
Perhaps his followers don’t believe him but are afraid to admit that they were conned or are simply wrong to support him for years or are afraid of the consequences of disagreeing with him. It doesn’t matter - publicly, they still believe in him.
After all, why are all his followers supporting someone so clearly unfit for the Presidency because he is impotent in solving problems for reasons we can all acknowledge:
He consistently demonstrates that he only cares about himself and fellow billionaires but has no interest in promoting the general welfare.
He rarely reads, consults with experts or even thinks about issues. How could he possibly solve difficult problems?
He is so mentally deficient that he thinks that ideas that he hears on Fox or that pop into his head are necessarily brilliant and that he knows more than the experts, whether medical, military or political.
You may recall reading about Trump supporters who died of COVID but insisted, up to the time of their death, that they did not have COVID. How could they possibly insist? I am a pathologist and despite my extensive medical background, would find it hard to insist that my doctors were wrong. I might doubt that I had COVID, but to be sure, I would need to review all the lab tests and even then, could not be sure. These patients are sure, not because they have superior knowledge, but because they are in the Trump cult, at least on the issues Trump preaches about, and they are incapable of disagreeing with him.
Thus, Trump will make America great again, at least for his followers, regardless of the reality.
