By not defending everything Democrats do, not denouncing Democrats every time they do something indefensible, not having an opinion about every single news cycle, and choosing not to be shocked, appalled or outraged by every political kerfuffle, you can better maintain your integrity, peace of mind, and sense of self. You will need them if you’re going to stay engaged in politics, which is the most important thing of all.
If we want to make the world a better place, we have to be in it for the long haul, because political change can be painfully slow. We have to make sure we don’t burn out in the process.
