For the sake of Jews, Israelis and world peace, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu must leave office. As described recently by me and by others below, Netanyahu’s incompetence, corruption and lust for power have caused the greatest killing of Jews since the Holocaust and the continuation of a war that threatens to spread globally. He is, in my opinion, the #1 enemy of Israel and the Jewish people for what he has done and continues to do. While he is in power, it will be difficult for conditions to improve. His alienation of Israel’s most loyal friends demonstrates that he is unfit for office - rational politicians listen to and work with their friends, even when they disagree.
Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York and the majority leader, on Thursday delivered a pointed speech on the Senate floor excoriating Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel as a major obstacle to peace in the Middle East and calling for new leadership in Israel, five months into the war.

“I also believe Prime Minister Netanyahu has lost his way by allowing his political survival to take precedence over the best interests of Israel.”

“The Netanyahu coalition no longer fits the needs of Israel after Oct. 7,” Mr. Schumer said, referring to the day of the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel. “The world has changed — radically — since then, and the Israeli people are being stifled right now by a governing vision that is stuck in the past.”
Thomas Friedman, the veteran New York Times correspondent on foreign policy, noted: “Israel and its U.S. backer cannot create a sustainable post-Hamas regional alliance or permanently stabilize Gaza while Netanyahu reigns as the prime minister of Israel.”
Jennifer Rubin, an opinion writer for the Washington Post agreed: “And Israel must also undergo its own “regime change” — a repudiation of not only Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but also his far-right government.”
Unfortunately, as noted by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz:
Nothing Biden Does Can Remove Netanyahu
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is incapable of taking responsibility for October 7 and has no intention of ever resigning. Until his rivals in the Knesset get their act together, no outside pressure will get him out of office.
There are no easy ways to remove Netanyahu from office:
Netanyahu’s political acumen—and sheer will—to stay in power should never be underestimated. But his staying power these days is also a result of the realities of Israel’s political process.
To send him packing, there are several pathways available for the Israeli opposition—all of them problematic.
But we can at least pray that Netanyahu leaves office as soon as possible (by some non-criminal means).
Note: I will discuss my vision for a better life for Palestinians in a future essay.

You write: "For the sake of Jews, Israelis and world peace, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu must leave office." Oh Nat, would it hurt you, or anyone, in any way, to for once acknowledge the existence, the fellow humanity, and the terrible suffering of the Palestinian people?
