I recently received the below email from Donald Trump containing repeated attacks on George Soros. Many of us believe that these attacks, whether by Trump or the Republican Party, are classic examples of antisemitism:
Criticizing Soros or his politics and actions is not antisemitic. Indeed, those who have suggested that any criticism is antisemitic do real disservice to the cause of fighting Jew hatred. However, when Soros is used as a symbol for Jewish control, wealth, and power, the criticism may be an updated version of traditional antisemitic tropes. American Jewish Committee.
These attacks on Soros in the Trump email below are variations of the popular antisemitic trope, repeated regularly by Trump, that Jews control things behind the scenes — often by virtue of their money and cunning.
Trump and his fellow Republicans repeated this antisemitic trope regarding Trump’s indictment in New York:
When Donald Trump was indicted by Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg in 2023, numerous Republicans claimed that Bragg was "bought and paid for" by Soros. This claim was promoted and spread by Trump himself as well as Ron DeSantis, Senator J. D. Vance, Senator Ron Johnson, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Representative Anna Paulina Luna, and Representative Paul Gosar, who called Bragg a "Soros D.A.".[64] The only actual connection is that Soros donated to progressive criminal justice reform group Color of Change, which contributed to Bragg's campaign. Soros was only one of many donors to Color of Change, and he had no contact with Bragg, whom he has never met.[65][66].
Why might Trump make these antisemitic statements?
Trump is seldom careful about who he offends — tossing out jibes, insults, and threats with reckless abandon. He is more than willing to lash out at cultural elites and the people he calls “disloyal Jews” who support Democrats. But Trump has been consistent in his reluctance to offend what he regards as a crucial part of the base that he has nurtured over the years. He is unapologetic about associating with overt neo-Nazis, and unwilling to issue full-throated denunciations of antisemitism. Trump is willing to draw this barrage of opprobrium for one simple reason: He believes that he has tapped into something in the American electorate, especially among evangelical Christians, who have ingrained — but complicated — attitudes toward Israel and Jews.

Antisemitism is increasing in the United States. To fight it, each of us should act, to do more than we did last year. Everyone is different, but I have joined groups, written emails, sent checks and paid more attention to this issue. What are you doing to combat this or other acts of hatred?
Here is the email from Donald Trump
Friend,
Even though Soros’ bought-and-paid-for District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, had me ARRESTED for committing NO CRIME, the cronies in the Fake News are still trying to protect them at all costs.
Media ‘fact checkers’ lie to defend Alvin Bragg
[Source: New York Post]
But the TRUTH about Soros is simple: he’s spent hundreds of millions of dollars trying to DESTROY our movement since Day One!
And now, he’s poured a total of $40,000,000 into electing radical prosecutors like Bragg to weaponize our justice system against yours truly.
Soros and the Democrats believe that if they drag us through enough witch hunts, we’ll eventually throw in the towel and close the doors on our 2024 campaign.
It’s election interference, plain and simple.
But time and again, Soros, Biden, and the Fake News cronies all underestimate YOU…
…The more than 74 MILLION grassroots patriots – who, like myself – will NEVER SURRENDER our country to their Marxist tyranny!
Remember, Friend, there’s only ONE Soros, but there are millions and millions of American patriots like YOU.
End of Trump email.
Now, what are you going to do about the rise in hate in the U.S.?
