As previously noted, physicians or pharmacists in states limiting abortion rights may refuse to provide approved treatments for common diseases because the treatments themselves are associated with miscarriage, even though the patients are not currently pregnant and are not planning to become pregnant.

A recent survey of US based rheumatologists confirmed that some patients appear to be losing access to effective treatments based solely on their childbearing potential.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists proclaims that Abortion is Healthcare. We need to work harder to advocate for abortion rights, not just to ensure appropriate reproductive health care but also for effective treatment of cancer, rheumatological and other diseases.
