Does Israel have the right to exist? This appears to be the fundamental question underlying Middle East tensions. Most countries now accept Israel’s right to exist. Who does not?
Iran, Syria and Lebanon.
Hamas, Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations committed to the destruction of Israel.
Many Palestinians and Palestinian leaders. They not only deny that Israel has a right to exist but they have weaponized Palestinian deaths and suffering as a means to destroy Israel.
How have Palestinians weaponized using Palestinian deaths and suffering as a means to destroy Israel? Palestinians are unable to destroy Israel militarily. But they can cause their own deaths and suffering and make it appear to be due primarily to Israeli actions. Since most of us want to believe that all people, including Palestinians, will go to any lengths to avoid death and suffering, this is an effective public relations tool against Israel.
Palestinians have been weaponizing their own deaths and suffering for over 75 years:
After the Arab-Israeli war in 1948, about 700,000 Palestinian refugees left Israel with a similar number of Jews leaving Arab countries. Since then, Israel has integrated its refugees into its society and built a prosperous country with the second largest number of startup companies in the world after the U.S. and the third largest number of NASDAQ listed companies after the U.S. and China (Wikipedia). Palestinians had the same potential to create a prosperous country in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, considering the many prominent Palestinians who have demonstrated tremendous brainpower and accomplishments. Instead, Palestinian leaders decided to make Palestinians suffer in UNRWA refugee camps in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Why are Palestinians still living in refugee camps 75 years after the Arab-Israeli war? So their anger and misery can be used as weapons against Israel.
Why did Palestinians decide to be pioneers in global terrorism and continue to support a plethora of terrorist organizations? So that Palestinians can use terror and violence as a weapon against Israel.
Why did Palestinians in Gaza elect Hamas, a known terrorist organization, to be their government? Why have Palestinians continued to support Hamas, despite its military activities which predictably kill large numbers of Palestinians through “suicide by proxy”? So that Palestinians can try to destroy Israel.
Why have Palestinians allowed their government in Gaza to turn all of Gaza into a military base, transforming almost all residents of Gaza into terrorist collaborators who build weapons, create a massive tunnel system, divert humanitarian aid into terrorist uses and act as human shields for hiding Palestinian leaders and weapons? So that Palestinians can use the entire population and territory of Gaza to try to destroy Israel.
The Palestinian government engaged in a massacre on 7 October 2023, killing over 1,100 Israelis and taking over 250 hostages, many young adults attending a music festival. The Palestinian government knew this would cause a massive Israeli response that would kill thousands of Palestinians but proclaimed that it was proper for Palestinians to become martyrs. Why has there been little to no protest by Palestinians in Gaza or even the United States of this use of Palestinians as human sacrifices? Why have there been so few protests or efforts by Palestinians to release the hostages that would end the war? Because many Palestinians have little regard for Palestinian lives as long as they can be weaponized to destroy Israel.
Palestinians should be using their brainpower as Israelis do, to win Nobel Prizes and for other accomplishments. Instead, they are afflicted with the Palestinian sickness, i.e. being obsessed with destroying Israel instead of improving their own lives. This is why so many Palestinians continue to die and suffer in the Middle East. Fortunately, there are some Palestinian groups committed to a Middle East in which the State of Israel and a well-governed, territorially viable State of Palestine are fully integrated into the region. This vision provides the best future for Palestinians worldwide. But Palestinians must support new leadership that promotes this vision of peace and coexistence instead of hatred and terrorism.
