The U.S. Office of Personnel Management ordered federal agencies to remove public information on its websites and social media accounts that “inculcate or promote gender ideology.” A New York Times analysis identified 8,000 pages removed from government websites of the National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
As noted in The Contrarian, “The health of the body politic—and the health of our bodies—depends on the free flow of research and information. The public response to the administration’s power grab has been not just heartening, but an important lesson for mobilizing in this next era. As quickly as information is suppressed, all of us can play a part in responding—whether that be suing, searching, or simply sharing.”
The Contrarian essay lists alternative websites that contain the data that the Trump administration has removed.
However, the ongoing production of many reports by the CDC and other federal institutions has stopped - whether they will continue is unclear. I previously suggested that a big state that acts independently of Trump, such as California or New York, could produce some of these reports but have received no response to my inquiries.
Trump and the Republican Party are directly attacking our healthcare. They will stop only when it hurts them politically or in their pocketbook through their businesses. It is up to us to make this happen as quickly as possible.
