Campaign rally, the day after the date (28Jun24)
What happened to President Biden at his recent debate? Perhaps he was under the weather, was exhausted from too much debate prep or he didn’t want to be there. In any event, he is now back to his usual form, as indicated above.
This country is facing a crisis if Trump is elected - we must recognize it and take steps to move in the right direction. That means supporting democracy not dictatorship, supporting women’s reproductive rights and LGTBQ rights. It means taking action against climate change and bigotry. It means supporting policies that promote the middle class and not the superwealthy at the expense of everyone else. Today, for each of these issues, it means supporting President Biden and the Democrats. Any other choice hurts all of these causes.
I am committed to working harder. I am
Writing more checks to President Biden, Democrats and pro-democracy organizations
Promoting voting through my Voter Challenge for my community and its neighbors
Distributing my “Vote for Decency” signs
Planning to volunteer for President Biden’s campaign and those of other Democrats
Encouraging others to get more involved
What are you doing?
What we do matters. As adults, we should react in a rational way to crises or potential crises. We should not just complain because everything is not as we like it. We should make the best decision to move things in the right direction:
In today’s political world, many voters make choices based primarily on emotions. We like a candidate or a party and it makes us feel good to support them. Politicians and political parties take advantage of this and say things to accentuate these feelings. But ultimately, our society is shaped by the actions these public officials take, not how they make us feel. Life is about Tradeoffs (Pernick 2024).
