Eight Reasons Why I Insist on Keeping a Positive Attitude
This is a difficult moment, but don't lose sight of the positives.
1. Trump's approval rating is quickly declining.
2. Republicans are backing away from cuts to the safety net.
3. Trump is getting clobbered in court.
4. Republicans are showing weakness in special elections.
5. The Democratic vote is now effectively insuppressible.
6. It is now almost impossible to out fundraise Democrats.
7. There will be free and fair elections in 2026.
8. The record of the party out of power in midterm elections is excellent.

But we must still work hard and not become complacent.
My suggestions:
Be politically active, devoting at least 1 hour per week to a cause. For example, see https://www.mobilize.us/. Email me at NatPernick@gmail.com if you need help to think of something.
Help build a better economy and society based on more dominance by small businesses. I suggest that each week, you try to find one purchasing decision you can change from big to small businesses. For example, I travel frequently and use Uber or Lyft to get to the airport. Going forward, I will use a private driver, who will make more money since Uber takes over 50% of the fare. In addition, I do not want to support a business that paid its CEO $24 million in 2023. Less pay to the CEO and management means more money to drivers and lower costs.
Support journalism that focuses on the truth and is not afraid to criticize Trump and others. Avoid Fox and others that appear to support these Trump and GOP lies: Trump won the 2020 election, climate change and COVID-19 are not real problems, vaccinations are dangerous and cutting taxes to the superwealthy improves the economy. Many people believe these lies when they hear them over and over again and it hurts our society immensely.
Be optimistic. Our actions on a day to day basis can make our lives and our country better.

I certainly hope you’re right! Thank you for being optimistic. It’s important not to lose hope and keep fighting. Being bombarded every day with news about more and more appalling actions by this administration however, makes it difficult to be optimistic. I do hope we can have fair and free midterms in 2026!
