I certainly hope you’re right! Thank you for being optimistic. It’s important not to lose hope and keep fighting. Being bombarded every day with news about more and more appalling actions by this administration however, makes it difficult to be optimistic. I do hope we can have fair and free midterms in 2026!
I feel confident that what we do makes a difference. For example, even in the last election, Democrats picked up a seat or two in the House, which makes it difficult for Trump to get his agenda passed. If we can do a little better in special elections or in 2026, that will also help. Of course, it is not a complete solution that would allow us to stop worrying and focus on other things, which is what I would like. But it is a step in the right direction.
Re the post titled "Why You Should Change Your Name to Pollyanna" - sorry, "Why You Should Be Optimistic" - there's a lot wrong there; in particular, #'s 5, 6, and 7.
"The Democratic vote is now effectively insuppressible" The Blue Rose Research study is referenced accurately, but to be therefore optimistic assumes that the man who said "Go find me 11,000 votes" will settle for losing just because he has in fact lost. Stalin famously said "Voting is nothing. COUNTING the vote is everything," and Trump is eager to be another Stalin. Or whatever other authoritarian allows votes for the pleasure of saying he has won. They allow voting for the head of government in Iran, but even if every living soul voted otherwise, the Ayatollah in charge would win. Stop kidding yourself.
"It is now almost impossible to out fundraise Democrats." In the first place, fund raising and fund expenditures are unnecessary when you're assured of victory regardless of the vote. In the second place, Elon Musk could buy every media outlet outright and advertise to Trump's heart's content. If Trump had a heart. Musk could donate a hundred BILLION dollars to Trump's campaign if he wished, and he would still be the richest man in the world. Get real, dude.
"There will be free and fair elections in 2026." The two points above make this point meaningless, but let's play the game. The author has apparently failed to notice that after the States have done their thing, further things must happen IN WASHINGTON for the election to be certified concluded. That's what Trump's failed insurrection was all about. The Trump-loving states will all provide him with plenty of electoral votes; and even if they don't, there will be a deus ex MAGAna at the last minute who will authoritatively state that the winner is Trump. How effing naive do you have to be to think otherwise. Trump is not leaving office because some law professor obsessed with the, whaddyacallit, the Constitution, says he has to. He'll leave when he's dead, or when Musk and other oligarchs decide his reign is over. Things are much worse than this writer seems to think.

The goal of autocrats is to make us despair so we stop resisting. We have to fight that and try to resist even more!
Great targeted links; thanks!
