I represent Sane America, those Americans who:
Recognize the difference between good and evil and try to stay away from evil.
Believe that the rule of law is important and that we must conform our conduct to the law.
Can distinguish between our desires and reality.
Know we are not perfect, often make mistakes and need to apologize and try to fix them.
Accept that we do not know everything and must consult with others who know more than us to do things properly.
Know that it is important to be honest.
Want to make the world a better place.
Accept that we may be motivated by emotions (anger, disappointment, jealousy) to do bad things and must fight this internally.
Unfortunately, in 2024, American citizens elected a President who is deranged, if not actually insane, and does not do any of the above consistently. Some Americans are consistently apolitical and don’t think elections are important. Some Americans were heavily influenced, if not actually brainwashed, by right wing media, social media and the lies of Trump and the Republican Party. Some Americans just did not work hard enough to elect Kamala Harris and Democrats. In addition, American society has been peaceful and healthy for so long that for many, serious disaster is inconceivable.
However, most Americans disagree with what Donald J. Trump says or does.
We believe:
Canada, Mexico, Europe, Japan, Australia and other traditional allies are our friends and we will work hard and sacrifice to support them.
We oppose the dictatorships of Russia, China, Iran and North Korea and will not capitulate to them.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is a war criminal, NATO is critical to European and global security and the United States must lead our common defense.
Ukraine should remain independent:
American policy should focus on supporting democracy and our allies, not dictatorships and our enemies.
Our democracy needs improvements, but the Musk / Trump “wrecking ball” is wrong.
Donald Trump will ultimately be gone. We hope that when that happens, America can return to the values and policies that made us a superpower and a beacon of hope.
Americans failed in November 2024 but we appear to be rebounding:
To oppose tyranny is to stand behind democracy and remind our elected officials that we, the people, are who they’re elected to serve, not themselves. The events over the past month have been built to exhaust us, to break our wills. But we are the American people. We will not break. See Ten reasons for modest optimism, by Robert Reich.
