We cannot trust the judgment of Trump supporters regarding anything that Trump deals with
27 March 2025
Every week, if not every day, Trump demonstrates that he is deranged. Yesterday it was Signalgate, defending the actions of his Secretary of Defense, National Security Advisor and Director of National Intelligence, who disclosed and clearly lied about disclosing classified information to a reporter.
This is similar to:
Trump’s withholding of military aid to Ukraine, approved by Congress unless Ukrainian Prime Minister Zelenskyy started an investigation of Joe Biden.
Trump’s incitement of insurrection to disrupt the transition of power when he lost the 2020 election.
Trump’s illegally taking classified documents to Mar-a-Lago and
repeatedly lying about it.
No reasonable person can doubt that Trump’s actions were problematic. Yet Trump and his cult-like supporters continue to deny that he did anything wrong, and incredibly, try to blame others for their actions.
Trump’s supporters are our family members, friends, colleagues, neighbors, customers and other business associates. However, regarding anything Trump deals with, we cannot trust their judgment since they are unwilling to disagree with him, no matter how outrageous his actions are.
Trump may be the #1 enemy of the civilized world. Musk may be doing more direct damage, but if Trump leaves office, Musk will go too - neither Vance nor anyone else would put up with him.
Thus, our task is to do what we can to remove Trump from power and to limit the damage that he does. As discussed previously, there are limited options within the law to make him a former President, so all we can do is limit the damage.
We also have to start to build a new post-Trump society. The key features are:
Promoting small businesses as central to our economy and minimizing the role of large businesses, who often “rig the system”, depress wages for their employees and are a demonstrated danger to democracy.
Increase our own political activism to at least 1 hour per week, if possible, to strengthen our democracy and reduce the chance of future Trumps.
Strengthen honest, pro-democracy media that is not afraid to hold public officials accountable and has the integrity to stand up to tyrants such as Trump and Musk.
Replace the Republican Party with a new conservative party based on the rule of law and explicit rejection of Trump and his supporters.
