In Michigan, absentee ballots are available starting tomorrow, Thursday, 26 September 2024. My city clerk said we should call first to see if they have received the ballots. If we are on the absentee ballot list, we can pick up a ballot at the clerk’s office and, if we return it, they will void any duplicate absentee ballot sent in the mail.
I find it useful to know what is on the ballot before voting. The State of Michigan and the League of Women Voters offer sample ballots but you have to fill in the form or give them your street address.
For me, in Huntington Woods, this is my sample ballot:
The League of Women Voters has more information:
Vote 411 with links to Register to Vote, Check your registration and for a Sample ballot.
Their voter guide is here as a PDF file.
Endorsements may be useful, particularly for judgeships:
The judicial races are nonpartisan but often candidates are endorsed by the major political parties.
It is difficult for anyone, even attorneys, to know much about how the judicial candidates will act on the bench if they are not incumbents but the voter guides from the League of Women Voters and local newspapers, when available, are often helpful.
I use this link - Oakland County Democratic Party Endorsements but, of course, there are other political endorsement links.
