Donald demented, part 2
15 December 2025
President Donald J. Trump is demented, deranged and unfit for office. Since my last essay in August 2024, his mental and physical condition appears to have clearly deteriorated.
There is credible speculation that he may be receiving intravenous medication for Alzheimer’s disease, which could explain the recurrent bruising on his hand and the reported need for MRI monitoring. Unfortunately, the public is left to make its own assessments because Trump’s physicians have repeatedly been dishonest and his press secretary routinely lies.
Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich recently produced a video that appears to confirm Trump’s cognitive decline.
Additional insight comes from Trump’s niece, Mary Trump, Ph.D, a psychologist, who has described his upbringing and highlighted recent events that reinforce concerns about his worsening mental state. As she has written:
I have also been thinking about something I explored in [my] book: why Donald is the way he is, why he is so enamored with authoritarian dictatorial monsters, why he is so damaged, so needy, and so grasping. The first of those is probably the easiest to answer. My grandfather was a patriarchal authoritarian sociopath. But something happened recently that had me thinking about the other issues about Donald’s neediness, his grasping nature, his unending thirst for recognition.
Last week, the president of FIFA, (International Federation of Association Football), Gianni Infantino, gave Donald a fabricated and meaningless honor for reasons that should be obvious. Because Donald keeps murdering people on boats in the Caribbean Sea and starving children, he will always be ineligible for the Nobel Peace Prize that he so desperately craves. So the powers that be at FIFA came up with the “FIFA Peace Prize.” When Infantino bestowed Donald with the prize saying, “This is your peace prize. There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go,” Donald grabbed the medal and said:
I’m going to wear it right now. This is truly one of the great honors of my life.

What are the next steps for us to take?
Rather than fixating on endless “Democrats should” commentary, we should focus on what we can do now to remove Trump from office or at least limit the damage he is inflicting.
First, contact your Member of Congress and U.S. Senators and urge them to pursue impeachment and any lawful measures available to constrain Trump’s power.
Second, support Democratic Party candidates for federal office. Republican officials have shown, almost without exception, that they will function as Trump’s enablers, doing whatever he demands.
Third, support small businesses and avoid large corporations that financially or politically support Trump, including Amazon, Tesla, X, national retail chains and major banks.

My political blog focuses on what you can or should do to make the world a better place and yourself a better person. I have another blog on Cancer and Medicine.
I read all your comments (except hate speech) and try to respond briefly, although I can’t keep up a long conversation.
